We know it isn’t much fun running tech maintenance, but you’ll be glad you did it. Set aside some time and start tackling some of these chores:

UPDATE YOUR SOFTWARE

This is important not only for your machine and devices to run well, but for security too. You may need to check your settings to see if there is a patch or update ready to run and these can sometimes take a while to intsall, so go grab that coffee.

CLEAN UP YOUR STORAGE

You can uninstall unused apps, delete old files and sort through all of those videos and photos. You can also use cloud storage to help free up some space too. Note there are tools and apps available that can delete apps not used within a certain amount of days or disc clean up apps built in on Windows and Macs.

CHECK YOUR ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM

Periodically run a scan on your antivirus software to ensure that it has picked up any and all threats and that it is running optimally.

UPDATE YOUR ROUTER

A well protected router is a good router. Make sure your router has the most up to date firmware patches enabled. This applies to all smart devices throughout your home, they are all possible links into your network so make sure they are secure.

MERGE TO THE CLOUD

Move all your large files to the cloud, and whilst you’re doing this, make sure you file and organise everything nicely for future reference. There are so many free to paid options out there that you are sure to find one that suits you.

CLEAN UP

Clean your keyboard and screens, untangle those wires and use handy cabling system gadgets to keep it all organised. This will make life so much easier when you may need to troubleshoot or reinstall devices down the track.
