CyberHound’s unique Behavioural Analytics software, ClearView, has been nominated, and is now a finalist, for the Brisbane Lord Mayor’s Business Awards this year in the category of ‘Urban Utilities Product Innovation’.
Brisbane’s thriving business community is putting on a strong showing in the 13th annual Lord Mayor’s Business Awards, with 55 finalists vying for a gong across the 10 categories.
Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the finalists exemplified the depth of talent within Brisbane’s business community and ranged from small businesses to larger corporations and individuals leading world-first innovations. Cr Quirk said it was encouraging to see many finalists at the forefront of innovations in health, technology, social enterprise and the creative industries.
“The Lord Mayor’s Businesses Awards are the benchmark for business excellence in Brisbane, showcasing our city as a great place to live, work and invest,” Cr Quirk said. “Every year the bar is raised higher with businesses and individuals taking our new world city reputation to the next level.”
CyberHound’s ClearView is a unique service for schools that was initially designed to detect, minimise and manage cyberbullying in schools. It has since been expanded to offer a full behavioural analytics platform that provides actionable intelligence to school leaders about student risks in areas such as self-harm, drug use, racism or other inappropriate or damaging behaviours.
ClearView works by analysing all internet traffic on a network and identifying patterns of behaviour that may indicate a risk. This is done by converting communications and other activities (e.g. search activity) into a common format for analysis by a policy matching engine that works in real-time without any noticeable degradation in performance for users.
ClearView has already been able to stop a sexual predator from outside the school contacting a student – Greg Mattiske, Suncoast Christian College 
The service uses a pattern matching technique to detect behavioural risk from communications, web use, search activity and other means. Students’ activity is matched to mature patterns that can then either block the activity (e.g. for cyberbullying), alert a welfare officer (e.g. a self-harm risk) or form part of a report that is sent on a scheduled basis.

ClearView also allows easy updating to capture new language or trends specific to a school’s environment for total flexibility.
